Well, not so much.
I’ve been reading a couple of bitchin books. Kathy Griffin’s Official Bookclub Selection and Bite Me by Christopher Moore. If you are easily offended by the word fuck and all possible permutations of said word, than these are a couple of books you might want to steer clear of. I felt it only appropriate to split a review of D Lister Kathy Griffin’s book with another book. It’s kind of the way her whole life has gone.
I like Life on The D List, the story of a still struggling actor/comedian in the Big Time. It’s the kind of show that makes you think maybe being a Nobody isn’t really all that. But My Life On The D List is a small part of Official Book Club Selection. The fun bit for me, is that Kathy is not a druggie, hard drinking, typical Hollywood True Story. Though she does seem to have a weakness for men with donut fryers close to hand. And she really loves those seven words you can’t say on television, but can clearly say all the fucking shit you want on an audio book. You know, I didn’t even know she was on Suddenly Susan.
Bite Me is the continuing story of a small group of losers in San Fransisco who continue to live the life Eternal and or fight those who have become the Undead. First off, Christopher Moore loved this story so much that he wrote like 3 novels covering the exact same events! He then spends the first part of this novel reminding everyone of what happened in the last three novels! The best part of Bite Me, and well, the other three or four or whatever books, is the dark goth named Abby Normal who Chris does way too good a job of channeling that whole surfer dude/valley girl/goth/emo/whatever young punks are calling themselves these days. Kayso, it’s fun to read at first, but then it kind of like, wraps your brain. Tres awesome.
I really think Kathy would have been the perfect choice to read the audio book version of Bite Me, but of course, no one who have thought to use a D Lister like her.
