Bert Stern is one of those photographers that fell into fame. Lindsay Lohan is one of those child actors that fall into trouble. So maybe Lindsay Lohan naked on New York Magazine is a natural. Getting Bert Stern to take the nude Lindsay Lohan photos in New York Magazine is a bit of genius.
Bert Stern was not a great talent like George Hurrell or Ansel Adams, he was just a guy with a camera. And if Marilyn Monroe had not died soon after his photo session with her, we would likely have never heard of him again. But Marilyn Monroe did die-after she rejected many of the photos Bert Stern took. Hence the large Xs over many of the negatives that he foolishly gave to Marilyn Monroe for her approval. Modern technology has allowed these images to be restored, but there is a kind avaunt garde beauty to the images with Marilyn’s marks all over them. These images are collected in Marilyn Monroe-The Last Sitting. 
Since Bert Stern is in danger of being forgotten altogether, he has now whipped out a paper tombstone to his one lasting body of work. He has ‘re-created’ a series of images from Marilyn Monroe’s last sitting using the flaky and not too attractive, Lindsay Lohan in place of Marilyn Monroe. These images of a naked Lindsay Lohan are to appear in New York Magazine and are already widely available on the web. As has been noted elsewhere, Lindsay Lohan is no Marilyn Monroe. Even a nude Lindsay Lohan is still just Lindsay Lohan. Except for that drugged out look of the-end-is-near in her flat eyes , she has none of Marilyn Monroe’s charisma. Maybe the almost has-been Lindsay Lohan is the perfect match for the real has-been Bert Stern.
Who knows, maybe Bert Stern has a gift for last sittings and the Lindsay Lohan photos in New York Magazine will be the last we see of her. We can only hope.
