It was a cold and rainy day on the island of Nantucket when I took this photograph. We had caught one of the later ferries in the day. Now we only had a couple of hours to roam around before the whole place shut down and we had to board a boat back to the mainland. It was fun place. Lots of old houses and lots of stuff about whaling. Brand Point Lighthouse is a small building and yet it is like all lighthouses in that it is a cool place to visit.
Clicking on the image takes you to my DeviantART shop, where you can buy canvas prints, lustre prints, matte prints, and gloss prints. Buy fine art, it’s good for you. I have had a print account for a while and it has not gotten much attention. I have other fine art photo prints for sale. Some digital prints, and a couple of coasters and mouse pads and the like. I think my black and white prints look pretty nice. But then, I might be a bit bias about the whole fine art original prints thing.
I’ve been to a number of lighthouses around the country, both coasts, the Gulf of Mexico and even a couple on the Great Lakes. They all have that Victorian grandeur about them. I like the images of lighthouses to be in black and white or sepia tone, as it feels more like that is how they way they would want to be photographed. I always feel like time has stopped around these elegant buildings. I expect to look out to sea when I am near one of these lights and see tall ships in full sail. And in my mind, I always do.
