You Break It, You Fix It- President Bush and Iraq

There is something about this story of Iraq that has been bothering me, ever since the very beginning. Most of the Pro-War side has taken up the rallying cry of You Break It, You Buy It, a sign assholes in antique malls like to put up in their booths. The idea being that we went in and ruined this perfectly good country, so now it’s our job to fix it.
Really?
When George W. Bush became President he had one goal on his agenda, invade Iraq and kill Saddam Hussein. 9/11 came along and was the perfect excuse to go to war with a country that had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks of September 11th, 2001. But hey, your the leader of the country, and you can attack other countries if you want to. Just ask Hitler.
Bush’s legacy is going to be that he screwed up royally. We were right to think he was a redneck idiot, just because he talks and acts like one. His approval rating is getting ready to set a new world record, beating out Nixon as the least favorite President of all time. Maybe Nixon wasn’t a crook, but he sure did look like one.
If we go back to 1926 we find that Iraq was whipped up out of the nowhere and into the here by the British Government, not the United States Government. We did not break it, the Brits did. They took a nice looking piece of territory on a map and called it a country. It’s all been all downhill from there.
Image for a moment that someone came along and said, Right-from now on there is no more Canada, United States, and Mexico, your all one happy country now. Hope you all get along as well as we know you can. Later, guys-and out the door they ran.
There is this very silly idea that it is our job to make Iraq into another United States of America, that we need to bring Democracy to the Iraqi People. Ok, so we brought Democracy to the Iraqis, know what? They don’t want the damned thing. They want a good God Fearing Muslim in charge that will tell them what to do and when to do it. They don’t want to share in the burden of making any decisions. Hell, most of us in American don’t want to share the burden of making any decisions.
We didn’t break it and we can’t fix it. So find another meaningless slogan for this meaningless war.
