The Curse of Jerry Jones Continues

The Dallas Cowboys loose to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings  24-21.

Jerry Jones was a nobody Billionaire from Arkansas when he decided he wanted to be a Celebrity and have an International Spotlight in the News.  So he bought the Dallas Cowboys football team.  He made a world of enemies out of the Dallas Cowboy fanbase right off the bat by firing living legend Tom Landry so he could hire his college buddy Jimmy Johnson.

Hiring Jimmy Johnson was the only smart thing Jerry Jones ever did.  Jimmy Johnson was a football guy and pretty much ran the show while he was with The Cowboys.  Firing Jimmy Johnson was right up there with firing Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys have never been the same since.  Of course, we all like to forget that Jimmy Johnson went on to less than stellar success with the Miami Dolphins.

And there was one more Superbowl win that should have an Astrix beside it-Barry Switzer won the game with Jimmy Johnson’s team, but that was it for the Glory Days.  One of the great classless moments of the Jerry Jones cannon took place on stage in front of the entire world-Barry Switzer wanted to shake hands with Jerry Jones after winning the Super Bowl.  White Trash Jerry Jones ignored Barry’s offered hand and reached over and snatched the Lombardi Trophy out of his other hand.  Nice.

Jerry Jones has hired nothing but Yes Men as head coaches, including the great and power Bill Parcells- who all but bowed and kissed Jerry’s Superbowl Ring at the Press Conference welcoming him to Dallas.

But at least Bill Parcels was a real Head Coach-and the rumor is that his name was a major force for Jerry Jones getting the gazillion dollars together to build Jerryworld in Arlington.  And Big Bill’s influence is still being felt to this day, it was Bill Parcels that molded Tony Romo into the clone of Vinny Testaverde that he has become.

In Dallas, we are all or nothing kind of fans.  We want the Dallas Cowboys to win the Superbowl or we want to forget about them.  Around here a 1-4 start might as well be an 0-16 season, this Dallas Cowboys team just can’t win, forget about the Playoffs.

Jerry Jones is Owner, General Manager, and de facto Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys.  Bum Phillips little boy, Coach Cupcake, is Head Coach in name only.    And that is the major problem with the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry Jones ia business man, not a football guy.  And he has done a good job on the business side.  No one can look at Jerryworld in Arlington and pretend that the man doesn’t know how to raise money and spend it and earn it back in triplicate.  We are all fine with Jerry running the business side, what he needs to do is get the hell out of the NFL Football side.

Jerry, please step down from being General Manager, and don’t put some other figurehead, like your son, there in your place.  Then let the new GM fired Wade Phillips and maybe hire a real coach that will be allowed to actually coach.

The Dallas Cowboys of 2010 suffers from the same problems as all the other Dallas Cowboy teams of the Jerry Jones era.  It is not a team, it is a collection of talented individuals.  There have been times when this method worked, but it is not working now.  Of course, it really is only 1-4, so there is still hope.
