Terrell Owens and Whoopi Goldberg on Dog Fighting

Terrell Owens, a man who just can’t keep his mouth shut for too long, chimed in on the whole dog fighting thing. Terrel Owens on dogfighting:
Being from the South, that’s something that’s very prevalent in that area,” he said. “So when I say it’s a cultural situation, I’m not trying to bring a racial barrier into it. If anyone wants to dig that up, I will dispel that.” “I don’t condone Michael Vick’s actions with the dog fighting,” Owens said. “I’ve been exposed to it and it’s something that’s very unfortunate for Mike. I think he’ll learn from this situation and move on from it.
Following where others have gone before, Terrell says:
When I mentioned cultural thing, [it’s] just like when people go out and they hunt deer,” he said. “They hunt deer and they cut their heads off and they go to mount them on the wall. And these are animals as well. I don’t see a big difference in the situation.”
Whoopi Goldberg, the latest woman to hold the dreaded Forth Chair on the View is already brewing up trouble with her similar comments about Micheal Vick and Dog Fighting. Whoopi says that “where she comes from” dogfighting is not all that uncommon.
It’s like cockfighting in Puerto Rico,” Goldberg said. “There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of the country.”
Whoopi, like Micheal Vick before her, was shocked that people now seem to hate her.
I don’t know how this happened — if you read the papers today I’m eating dogs, I’m swinging them by their tail — I mean, it’s ridiculous!” Whoopi told the studio audience of The View on her second day on the show.
Whoopi went on to say that she did not condone dogfighting, did not approve of what Micheal Vick has done and was generally sorry about the whole thing.
Maybe it’s a little indicative of why people don’t really say stuff anymore.” Whoopi said.
Then maybe a talk show is not the best place for Whoopi to be.
Terrell Owens and Whoopi Goldberg seem to think that dogfighting is as common in The South as surfing is in California. I live in Texas and have never seen a dogfight, or even heard of one taking place. Doesn’t mean they don’t happen, but it does mean that it is not so prevalent that anyone walking down a random street will run into it. I also know that Texas is not The Deep South of Whoopi Goldberg, Terrell Owens, and Michael Vick. I’ll count that as a good thing.
