Spread The Wealth

Spread the wealth is one of those great ideas-when you happen to be poor and want someone else’s money. For example, I am all for it at the moment. If I won the lottery-well, not so much. Since most Americans will never make $250,000 dollars a year, it is easy to think taking some of that money and giving it to those less fortunate would be a good idea. Huey Long was big on this idea of taking from the rich and giving to the poor. He got killed by the way.

There are a lot stats that say wealth is concentrated in the hands of a small number of families. The wealthiest 1 percent of families owns roughly 34.3% of the nation’s net worth, the top 10% of families owns over 71%, and the bottom 40% of the population owns way less than 1%. This is a tad unfair, especially to people who like to talk about that bottom 40%.

We all want to be rich-we all want to be Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Sam’s greedy kids who run Wal-Mart now. That’s the new American Dream. Make as much as you can as fast as you can.

Bill Gates has about 43 Billion Dollars-which is approximately 43 Billion Dollars more than I will ever have-and this is a lot of money. But it is Bill Gates money. It would be nice for me if Bill Gates gave me some money-$50,000 would be a big help right now and Bill would never miss it. But there is no reason for Bill Gates to give me a dime. Nor should there be a law that forces Bill Gates to give me anything. Is 40 billion dollars too much for any one person to have control of? Should there be a cap on how much money can be earned?

I don’t think the trouble is with people making too much money-the problem is all the people not making enough money and carrying way too much debt. Want to really help America? Outlaw Credit Cards and cancel all current debts. Hey, it could work.

  1. I agree with you on this one. Often the ones that are complaining the most don’t know how to manage the money they already earn. I like how you think. Just saying. Have a great day. 🙂

  2. Hmm, I’m right on this one-implying for a change-and I don’t know how to manage my money. Sigh, if only it were not true.
