I have always been a fan of Riedel Wine Decanters. I love the odd and wonderful shapes and the idea of lead crystal sitting on the table. There is that whole air of style that goes with drinking wine that has been allowed to do a bit of breathing in a Riedel Wine Decanter. Fun and interesting, there’s sure to one that suits your taste.
The duck-shaped Riedel Vinum decanter has a funnel-like neck for pouring wine in and a wide body that allows for excellent oxidation. Exposure to the air will bring out flavors and aromas in older wines and soften strong flavors in young wines. Once wine is oxidized, hosts can pour glasses through a narrow spout in the Reidel decanter’s “tail.” Like most of Riedel’s fine wine glasses and accessories, this elegant decanter is mouth-blown of 24-percent full lead crystal. This Reidel crystal decanter stands 6-5/8 inches tall and holds 35-1/4 ounces, which equals one entire bottle of wine
Drawing on the superlative skills of Riedel’s glassmakers, the Ultra decanter is simultaneously beautiful and superbly functional. Its broad belly and flared neck look handsome and unusual, showing wine to its best advantage. In action, these features increase wine’s exposure to oxygen, resulting in improved flavors and more developed bouquets. This Reidel decanter is comfortable to grip and graceful to pour with, thanks to its cut and polished rim. Mouth-blown in Austria by renowned craftspeople, the Reidel ultra decanter is made of full-lead crystal for exceptional clarity and brilliance. It stands 8-3/8 inches high and holds 43-3/8 ounces at full capacity. Riedel recommends washing it by hand.
Proof that with Riedel, you can always expect the unexpected in dramatic fashion. The Tyrol Decanter takes an entirely different slant on decanting, appearing to rest gracefully on its side as it aerates your wine. Chimes perfectly with Riedel’s Tyrol glasses, yet so extraordinary, it infuses any arrangement with sheer enchantment. Created in honor of the 50th anniversary of Riedelâs workshop in Tyrol, Austria. 24% lead crystal, machine made. Hand wash recommended. Size: 19-1/4″L, 26-1/2 oz.
Decanting is a wonderful way to let old wines breathe while leaving behind the sediment that accrues during aging. Decanting is even appropriate for younger wines as it can awaken the flavor. The Riedel Sommeliers decanter is suitable for wines that require substantial aeration and has a wider base than neck in order to expedite the oxidation process. This decanter is handmade of mouth-blown full lead crystal, which shows wine’s natural brilliance and clarity. This Reidel wine decanter stands 8 inches tall, is 6-1/4 inches wide at its base, and holds 49-3/8 ounces or the equivalent of one full bottle of wine
The delicate outline of Riedel’s stunning Pomerol Wine Decanter inspires comparison to the timeless pottery of ancient Greece. The prominent spout of the decanter is offset by the cascading handle and the spherical center globe balances gently on the delicately stemmed base. A true work of art. Like all of Riedel’s finest glassware and decanters, it’s entirely hand made of 24% lead crystal. The Riedel Pomerol Wine Decanter will let you serve all your wines as if they were nectar of the Gods. Perfectly designed to fit our small wine decanter glass stopper. Size: 10-1/4″H, 31-3/4 oz.
Made in Austria by the world’s most renowned wineglass maker (Riedel Crystal, founded in 1756), this graceful Riedel Pannonia decanter is blown from 24 percent lead crystal and holds one bottle of wine. With its neck wrapped by an elongated teardrop of solid crystal, the decanter stands 12-1/4 inches high on a 2-3/4-inch-diameter base. Riedel crystal is used by fine restaurants all over the world and thus must stand up to frequent trips through a dishwasher. But because lead crystal has a soft surface, Riedel recommends this decanter be hand washed.
Beautiful at rest and striking in action, the Riedel Medoc single decanter would be worth owning simply for its appearance. Fortunately, its function is also excellent, reducing sediment in the glass and improving wine’s flavor and bouquet by exposing it to more oxygen. Exceptionally clear and brilliant, it shows wine to its best advantage. The angular spout is handsome, and the sweeping handle is gorgeous. Standing 13-3/8 inches high, this Reidel decanter holds 34-1/2 ounces at full capacity. Riedel recommends washing it by hand.
Made in Austria by the world’s most renowned wine-glass maker (Riedel Crystal, founded in 1756), this strikingly graceful Riedel Duck decanter is blown from 24 percent lead crystal. It holds 31-3/4 ounces, perfect for one bottle of red wine. This spectacular Reidel duck decanter contributes a breathtaking elegance to a dinner table. Standing 5-1/8 inches high at the handle, it measures 13 inches from “tail” to “beak.” Riedel crystal is used in fine restaurants all over the world and thus must stand up to frequent trips through a dishwasher. Riedel recommends this decanter be hand washed.
With its graceful, asymmetrical profile and sweeping neck, the Riedel Cornetto decanter is a gorgeous way to improve the wine-drinking experience. Crafted by the world’s most renowned manufacturer of wine ware, the piece is mouth-blown in Austria by premier glassmakers. The mouth is cut at an angle to stunning effect. In addition to being a thing of beauty, the decanter helps reduce the chance of sediment in the glass while letting flavors and bouquets develop through increased exposure to oxygen. Standing 12-5/8 inches high, the piece holds 26-1/2 ounces. Washing by hand is recommended.
The simple, modern shape of Riedel’s Cornetto decanter was inspired by both the graceful curve of a swan’s neck and the alpine hunter’s horn known as the cornetto. The black strikes a contemporary design note that adds boldness to a table setting and it masks the color and clarity of the wine within, allowing a host to amuse guests with a double-blind test, with the addition of opaque black Reidel wine glasses. (Surprisingly, many oenophiles can’t tell a white from a red by taste alone.) The Cornetto decanter aerates an entire standard-size bottle of wine with its 42-3/8-ounce full capacity and 12-3/4-inch height. The slanted rim makes pouring precise.
Brilliant and spirited, like a Mozart piece come to life, the Riedel Amadeo decanter named in the composer’s honor is a lasting work of art. Mouth-blown of leaded crystal by master European glassblowers, this Riedel decanter forms a U-shape unlike any other Reidel wine decanters. Appropriate for its role as commemorative Riedel decanter for the innovative Austrian company’s 250th anniversary. A full bottle of wine may be decanted into the wider side of the graceful U, which then serves as a handle for pouring the wine into glasses out through the narrower opening. The angled tops of each side perfectly align in a visual plane, a crisp counterpoint to the fluidly curved belly.
I agree that many of them are lovely, but to my eye some of them look as though they may have, shall we say, medical uses.
Yeah, I noticed that as well, but decided not to mention it.
