Or maybe Postsecret will be back in a couple of hours. You never know with Blogger whether the thing will work when you want it to or just lay there like a sleeping dog. But it has become a part of many people’s week to run over to PostSecrets and see what the latest batch of secrets are about. The idea behind PostSecret is that people will send in their secrets on a postcard and this purging will free them of their demons. Hey, there a good reason Catholics have been giving confessions for all these years.
But the story this morning is not that sharing your secrets is good for you, but Frank Warren’s blog PostSecret seems to have vanished into the ether. In all fairness to Blogger, those us that write blogs and talk about life, the universe, and everything on a daily basis can be a bit high strung. I myself have started and burned a couple of blogs. It’s anyone’s guess if this one will last forever, or as close to forever as bits of data on a server somewhere can get. So what happened to PostSecret? No one seems to know. The odds are good that he has just migrated somewhere else and will fire up with a new blog in no time. Lots of people leave Blogger for one reason or another. Then they delete the old blog with the shockingly simple bit of Blogger business where you can kill a blog with a single click.
Googling Postsecret gets 1-10 of about 3,320,00 results. This was a very successful blog and the writer seemed to have a real passion for the topic. It seems unlikely that he would just kill it one fine morning for the hell of it. So there are rumors now that it was hacked and burned. Maybe someone didn’t really want to share a secret after all.
PostSecret has a Techonrati Authorty of 10,813-that’s a lot of Authority. On Alexa it has a Rank of 15,828 and 3,048 links. It’s a big deal to crack the top 100,000 on Alexa, let alone the top twenty thousand.
Being a slightly out of the loop kind of guy, I’d never heard of PostSecrets until it went missing. Or it was just one of those feel good stories that I ignore at the end of the evening news. If it pops back up again, I’ll have to check PostSecrets out.
Well, maybe Bush Killed PostSecret. Daily Kos seems to think so.
PostScript-PostSecrets goes on and seems to be doing just fine. It was down for a while, as just about everything online seems to go quit once in a while.
