I have not seen Paul Blart Mall Cop and I am not likely to anytime soon. The trailer is pretty awful, and I have been fooled by trailers before. Fight Club has one of the worst trailers ever-so bad that I avoid that amazing film for several years. Still, I don’t think Mall Cop is in the same neighborhood as Fight Club.
Having been a rent a cop who worked in a mall, briefly, I do know that there are some rent a cops that take themselves a bit too seriously. I met one at work the other day who stood around lecturing everyone on being aware of their surroundings and knowing where the exits are at all times. He had been a rent a cop for 25 years-shudder-there but for the grace of God. . .
Kevin James has always baffled me anyway. I don’t get the appeal of this duffus real world Homer Simpson, but I can understand, sort of, the appeal of Mall Cop.
Adam Sandler became rich and famous player retarded characters like The Water Boy and Little Nickie. But Adam has grown up and now makes feel good movies that totally baffle his fanbase.
The same is true of Jim Carrey, who used to make dead stupid movies like Dumb and Dumber and Ace Venture Pet Detective. He grew up as well and started making serious films like The Endless Sunshine of The Eternal Mind, which baffled just about everyone, not just his dimwit fanbase.
Mel Brooks has stopped making dumb movies and started making dumb Broadway Shows.
There are a couple of parody films now and them, but none of them are out at the moment. So voilà! Fans of dumb movies flock to see Mall Cop-which may not be such a dumb movie after all.
Tells you why the Studios keep cranking it these kinds of movies, people must want to see them.
There a lot of ex-cops that do that too. We don’t have television, and don’t go to the movies so I don’t have to worry about seeing this either.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
I spend way too much time watching Tv and I do see the occasional movie as well. Though I must admit that most movies aren’t as good as they used to be.
