Hitting the Keywords Hard, Maybe Too Hard

The past few weeks I have been looking at Google Trends and then blogging about topics that I find kind of interesting. This has been a successful program for me as I have found a lot more traffic hitting If You Write It. But I have noticed something that I find kind of interesting, keyword stuffing, for lack of a better word. You can get a high spot on Google Trends, at least in the blog section, by stuffing your post with keywords.
This is not news, or a big secret. I have been guilty of a bit of overloading myself from time to time. It is just so much fun to cram one or two words into every sentence you write. But I am not talking about the normal kind of hey, I use search engine keywords, are you looking for adwords keywords? king of stuffing. I have seen posts that their entire article is interrupted every three words with a keyword in bold letters just pasted into it. Things like-I was walking down EAT MORE CARP the road the EAT MORE CARP day when I EAT MORE CARP. . .does anyone go to these sites? And if so, why?
I have used the Yahoo keyword search tool and the Google Adwords: Keyword Tool and I must say I like the Google tool a lot better. The trick to keyword optimization is not just to find the most popular keywords, but the most profitable keywords as well. Google lets you sort the data so that you can see which words cost the most, or cost the most a month or so ago anyway. There is nothing quite as exciting as keyword discovery, finding a word that is better than the word you were using before. Keyword marketing means having the right keyword in the right density to get the the results that you want. If that means getting more sales, or just more visitors, you need to understand search engine keywords. Make Easy Money With Google by Eric Giguère is a lighthearted and useful book on Adsense and Keywords and SEO for the novice.
I’m not a reporter, there are no breaking news stories here. I am a commentator, an editorialist and a loud mouth. I write because I love to write and it does my curmudgeon’s heart good to see people reading my posts. So if I hit the keywords a little hard from time to time, sorry about that. I’ll always be trying to get my opinion in there as well as the best Pagerank I can muster.
Do you think I said keywords enough times?
