The latest bit of weirdness in beer commercials comes form the Heineken marketing machine and features a blue woman with a DraftKeg of Heineken in her stomach. The robot doesn’t talk, of course, she just smiles as she extends an arm to grab a Heineken glass to fill with beer from the keg she hold effortlessly before her. She exists in a Heineken Green world with only a few lights to give it any dimension at all. I like the song and the way the you can hear the gears moving inside the robot. Sounds like she could us a little oil, but the three robots seem limber enough as they swing their hips in wide arcs as the ad ends.
Heineken advertising is not the first, nor will they be the last to have slightly sexy, slightly creepy commercials. Usually these ads feature a Heineken party, often with a lot of sexy women and a few nerdy men who become sexy once they have a beer in their hand. Look here if you need to see more of the dancing BeerBot.
I am not a beer drinker and I am not sure that have a self-replicating Beerbot would make me want to buy beer. It does make me want to buy a self-replicating green woman with short hair and really high heels.
Heineken is a major sponsor of soccer, the Heineken Cup Finals are a big draw in Europe, so maybe they like slightly weird robot women as well.
Heineken at least is going for the normal core audience here, horny guys that drink beer. Most of these types of ads are filmed at a beach and have beautiful woman sunning with a bucket of beer close at hand. I wonder if The Beer of The Month club has a sexy woman on the box? Heineken beer coolers seem to just have a giant logo on the side, as do the Heineken beer glasses, beer mugs, beer shirts, and most other Heineken merchandise. I wonder how long it will be before the fem bot shows up on a t-shirt?
Jezebel thinks the keg replaces the woman’s uterus, while Leo Burnett and all the other guys on the web just thinks its a cool ad.
