Acobay is a social network with the idea that you should get along pretty well with someone who uses the same kind of phone you use, or drives the same kind of car, or reads the same type of books. This actually makes a bit of sense to me. That whole like attracts like thing. Where as other social networks seem to exist primarily to provide links of one sort or another, acobay doesn’t appear to allow linking. Which is too bad, as a blogger I am always looking for one more link, and acobay doesn’t even give me a…

How Did You Find Me?
There are a few people who blog and and make a living at it-John Chow, Dosh Dosh, Pro Blogger, a number of geeky tech blogs that I never go anywhere near and likely a few hundred other good people that I don’t read. Other people, well, I am not sure what their reasons for blogging are. I started If You Write It with the goal of making $300 a day, and have come as close to that goal as making four or five dollars a day. I had A Plan, but found it to be too much like, oh, what…
Hitting The Front Page on FARK
It’s now News, It’s FARK. Last July I started working on ways to get traffic to my blog. I did the SEO stuff of tweaking Meta Tags, hitting the keywords, working on getting listed here, there and everywhere. I followed, as best as I could, that standard bit of advise about good content. I write everyday and usually try to tie it to something current. So far as I can tell, none of that has anything to do with getting on the front page of FARK. FARK is different from Digg and Reddit, in that there are no buttons to…
Fark Them if They can’t Take a Joke
Ok, to me Fark is just one more social network, albeit a big one that I get a bit of traffic from. I found Fark because it is one of those little buttons at the bottom of so many posts. Digg was featured in USA Today and several social networks were mentioned. I’ll have to check and see if Fark was one of them. Anyway, Fark is fun in that it has all these little headings you can put on a story. Silly, Asinine, Interesting, Amusing, and so on and so forth. Fark is the place to look for the…
Social Networks and The Unsocial Blogger
I find it kind of amusing that the solitary, occasionally lonely business of blogging has become obsessed with the concept of Social Networks. We are alone, and yet, we are not alone. It’s that whole Zen thing, if you blog and no one reads, have you blogged at all?In the past few months I have been using a number of sites that have those little buttons at the bottom of so many blog posts. I have been working on that whole SEO thing and working on my keywords and page rank. This has all been a surprising amount of fun.…
